Waitre d’ Recruitment’s History
Waitre d’ Recruitment first started recruiting for the Cruise Ship industry in the late 1990s when Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and Starlight Cruises approached us to recruit crew and entertainers for one of their cruise ships sailing out of Durban. The recruitment was seasonal, until MSC decided to bring their foreign crew from Italy to take up permanent roles.In the year 2000, Marcus and Carol Kleyweg relocated to Cape Town and started recruiting for companies in Dubai and other cities in the Middle East. Whilst Waitre d’ did some recruitment for Miami-based American shipping companies, this has not been a major focus for the company for many years until now, as Waitre d’ has just signed with Viking Cruises to recruit crew for the Mediterranean, Caribbean and the Americas. This is a new chapter in our history, as one of South Africa’s most successful overseas recruitment agencies.
